When I read "The Dead", several years ago, I thought that it was a mere gloom Irish story until my friend, who is a fan of James Joyce explained it to me. This came back to my mind last night, while I was watching "Bionic Woman". Jaime Sommers explains the underlyng plot of "The Dead" in the most femenine, articulate an brilliant manner. Just like the first time, it struck to me that I was getting a glimpse from a fragile, sometimes bitter woman who lives in the usual, normal world of the dead. At last, after several chapters, when I was about to quit watching the series, the characters start to get a little bit of depth and motivation.
